President's Funds for Excellence

The President’s Fund for Excellence was established by President R. Joshua Cesaire in 2023. The fund supports extraordinary faculty and student project opportunities that would otherwise not be financially possible. The President’s Fund for Excellence is entirely funded by the generous support of our donors and can support travel, research, publication, and other creative projects that foster excellence and innovation.

Project Eligibility:

Juneteenth Intercontinental faculty members may apply for funds to support a creative or research project they deem to be of the highest caliber, which will give back to the University community. This opportunity is extended to all full-time and part-time faculty members.

Juneteenth Intercontinental University students are allowed to apply for funding for high-quality extracurricular projects, including but not limited to scholarships, exhibitions, internships, conferences, performances, residencies, and publications. Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply.

About the President

R. Joshua Cesaire is an inspiring leader and educational pioneer. A proud graduate of Andrews University with BAs in French Studies and Religions, he earned his M.Div. from Andrews Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Education and Organizational Leadership from National University. He is committed to empowering student learning at Juneteenth Intercontinental University (JIU) through his extensive knowledge in leadership and education. When he's not busy championing the JIU mission, he can be found spending quality time with his wife, Nelly, and their six children: Jessica, Jaelle, Joshua, Caleb, Noah, and Naomi.

Dr. Cesaire has always been fascinated by solving complex challenges and finding solutions. From a young age, he developed a natural aptitude for problem-solving, which has stayed with him throughout his life. This ability to think logically and approach situations with a clear mind has helped him in many different areas, including academic and professional pursuits. He believes in taking a proactive approach to life, always seeking out new challenges and opportunities for growth. Overall, his passion for problem-solving has shaped him into a determined and dynamic individual who is always looking for ways to improve and innovate.

I am pleased to welcome you to Juneteenth, the first racialized bilingual university in Canada, built to serve those forgotten by the system and provide the advantages of a close-knit community large enough to engage in cutting-edge research and offer a comprehensive academic program. In addition, they have a new approach in environmental science/studies, in all traditional and non-traditional liberal arts and sciences, and a growing range of professional programs.
