About the Role
The Opportunity
Appointed by the President and reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School of Business and Technology (FBT). The successful candidate must be a resourceful and visionary individual who is committed to leadership and academic excellence.
The Dean for the FBT will help shape the future of the school, articulating a vision consistent with the University’s approved strategic plan — defining its standard of excellence, the directions of its growth, and new and multidisciplinary connections across the University, particularly with engineering and engineering technology within the College of Engineering, Business and Technology.
The University anticipates that the new Dean will bring a distinguished record of academic, business, and entrepreneurial success and a record of scholarly achievement. However, candidates whose leadership abilities and outstanding accomplishments in business could translate well to academia are also strongly encouraged to apply and will receive serious consideration.
The Dean is expected to be an effective internal and external advocate for the school to articulate and promote its mission and vision.
Possessing the personal skills to inspire the faculty, the Dean will ensure high standards in the school’s programs, be creative in addressing the needs of a changing globally oriented business community, and exercise innovative and entrepreneurial leadership building upon the University’s legacy of ingenuity and faith.
Both a strategic leader and entrepreneurial thinker, the Dean will bring ideas to develop and manage business incubator programs, entrepreneurial initiatives, and hands-on learning opportunities for students.
Additionally, the Dean will have a strong appreciation for building a business and technology school with multiple delivery systems with outreach via online, executive, and traditional models as well as to the campus/es. The Dean also will have a vision for developing cross-discipline programs with the University’s School of Engineering and Engineering Technology.
Requirements
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a strong commitment to Juneteenth Intercontinental’s educational mission. Candidates holding a Ph.D. in the business or technology disciplines are preferred though consideration will be given to those with J.D., MBA, or other academic credentials with a significant history of success in leadership.
Other qualifications include:
Strong commitment to academic excellence and the ability to articulate the University’s teacher-scholar faculty model.
An interest in students and the ability to recruit and retain students of promise.
An understanding and appreciation of the role of international programs and opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Experience in and a demonstrated commitment and ability to participate effectively and successfully in external relations and fundraising.
A collegial administrative style that promotes a sense of academic respect and collaboration.
An appreciation and desire to promote both traditional and non-traditional mediums of learning.
A progressive history of innovative and effective leadership in higher education and/or in industry.
Salary and Benefits: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and other qualifications. Juneteenth Intercontinental University provides a significant benefit package, which includes medical and life insurance and contribution to a retirement program.

Strategic Parameters: The parameters of the JIU Strategic Objectives include sustained evaluation and growth strategy, including affordability, academic quality, offering of desirable programs, retention and graduation rates, career outcomes and opportunities for graduates.

The JIU includes five important entities: early childhood - primary school - secondary school - professional school - college and university level.
